Heterotropic brass rod is a kind of beryllium-containing copper-based alloy (Be0.2-2.75% wt%). It is the most widely used of all brass rods. Its consumption has exceeded 70% of the total beryllium consumption in the world today. Beryllium bronze is a precipitation hardening alloy. After solution aging treatment, it has high strength, hardness, elastic limit and fatigue limit, small elastic lag and corrosion resistance (Beryllium bronze alloy corrosion resistance speed in seawater: (1.1-1.4)*10-2 mm/year). Corrosion depth: (10.9-13.8)*10-3mm/year.) After corrosion, the strength and elongation of beryllium bronze alloy remain unchanged. Therefore, beryllium bronze alloy can be kept in water for more than 40 years. Beryllium bronze alloy is an irreplaceable material for submarine cable repeater structure. In sulphuric acid medium, the annual corrosion depth of beryllium bronze is 0.0012-0.1175 mm in sulphuric acid of less than 80% concentration (room temperature), and the corrosion rate is slightly faster when the concentration is more than 80%.
